Previously hosted at Richard’s Supper Stage, the award-winning show ‘Kaapse Stories from the Mother City’ has moved to the Rockwell Dinner Theatre situated at the upmarket Rockwell All-Suite Hotel & Apartments in Prestwich Street, Green Point. This move brings with it a number of enhancements to the venue, including more effective air-conditioning, wheelchair-friendly facilities, improved sound and visibility, and modern bathrooms. Bus parking is available right in front of the building and there is undercover, secured parking for passenger cars and Kombis below the building.
Whether you’re a party of two or twenty, ‘Kaapse Stories from the Mother City’ offers a rollicking evening of singing, dancing and Cape cuisine. The show will transport local and international guests of all ages into the vibrant world of District Six, through the adventures of the Kleintjies family. Written and directed by the widely acclaimed Basil Appollis, ‘Kaapse Stories’ will give the audience an inspiring and interactive insight into the ‘rainbow nation’ of Cape Town.
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a glass of orange juice or sparkling wine and a sparkly hat to get into the spirit of things. Whilst being entertained by the talented local artists, guests will enjoy a traditional Cape meal starting with a smoked snoek pate and samoosas, followed by a buffet comprising local fare such as vegetable breyani and Cape Malay chicken and prawn curry for mains. Delectable South African sweet treats including milk tart and koeksisters are served for dessert.
This iconic, uniquely Capetonian dinner show has played over 1 200 times since June 2012 and continues to provide a wonderfully South African evening for locals, visitors to the city, as well as corporate groups looking for something special and unique.
